PS 1999 - 2024

6 October — 24 October, 2024

Opening: Sunday 6 October 16.00 — 19.00 hrs.

PS projectspace is very pleased to announce the exhibition PS 1999 - 2024 — a group exhibition that will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the space.

In 1999, the artist initiative PS projectspace was founded by artist Jan van der Ploeg and art historian Karin Straathof in their living room in the centre of Amsterdam.
PS aims to provide a platform for the work of upcoming international artists in an environment that exists between the conventions of an artist-run space and a commercial gallery.
PS stands for the abbreviation of the names of the initiators, but also for Post Scriptum, Project Space, Public Space or Private Space and wants to add another formula to the already existing ways of presenting art.
On 4 January 1999, the first exhibition opened with the work of the Australian artist John Nixon. In September 2011, PS projectspace moved to the studio building of van der Ploeg in Amsterdam East. In the past 25 years, PS has organised almost 200 exhibitions with the work of at least as many artists.

The group exhibition PS 1999 - 2024 shows the work of 25 (inter)national artists who have exhibited in PS in the past period. The exhibition includes the work of, Justin Andrews, Lars Breuer, Ruth Campau, Michiel Ceulers, DAG, Julian Dashper, Koen Delaere, Shuhei Fukuda, Marco Fusinato, Salome Ghazanfari, Ola Korbanska, Marius Lut, Gerold Miller, Olivier Mosset, Victoria Munro, John Nixon, Janine van Oene, Olivier Renevret, Elena Rucli, DJ Simpson, Daniel Sturgis, Tilman, Riette Wanders, Lydia Wierenga and Beat Zoderer.

The exhibition will open on Sunday 6 October from 16:00 – 19:00 hrs. and can be visited until 24 October on Thursdays from 14:00 - 17:00 hrs. and by appointment.
PS projectspace wants to thank the City of Amsterdam, District of Oost for their support.
